It will aim to inspire students with dyslexia to prepare effectively for the exam season. Susie will showcase effective planning and decoding strategies as well as innovative tried and tested easy-to-replicate Multi-Sensory Techniques. These are published in the latest ‘BDA Dyslexia Friendly Schools Good Practice Guide’ and ‘The Multi-sensory Toolkit’ by Oaka books.

This webinar will discuss how qualitative maths assessments move away from a right/wrong answer and examine language, understanding and underlying skills so helping teachers to identify gaps in knowledge and prepare targeted support lessons. We will look at the Diagnostic Assessment of Numeracy Skills (DANS), a structured set of qualitative tests for students who have difficulties with maths at Key Stage One & Key Stage Two. The tests are interactive and use concrete resources which help teachers to observe the thought processes and vocabulary of their students, as well as their answers. The DANS assessment provides teachers with a clear map of the concepts that their students understand and highlights areas of weakness. It is designed to assist teachers with developing targeted lesson plans.
